Sam & Sons Trucking Case Settles for $2,000
In January 2014, Sam & Sons Trucking agreed to pay a penalty of $2,000.00 for violating air quality regulations: $1,500.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $500.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Sam & Sons Trucking failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. To settle the case, Sam & Sons Trucking agreed to the $2,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
