This is CARB's notice of approval for San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District's (APCD) submitted Project Plan to fund incentives for alternatives to the open burning of agricultural materials in the communities of South Central Fresno and Shafter, both selected for participation in Assembly Bill (AB) 617 through development of Community Emissions Reduction Programs. This measure will reduce particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and reactive organic gas emissions from agricultural open burning of orchard and vineyard removals by incentivizing chipping and soil reincorporation or land application as an alternative.
