The South Coast Air Basin (South Coast) failed to attain the Serious classification deadline for the 35 µg/m3 24-hour PM2.5 standard. And as a consequence, the Clean Air Act requires the State to submit a SIP revision demonstrating attainment of the standard, and demonstrating annual reductions of PM2.5 or PM2.5 precursor emissions. On December 4, 2020, the South Coast Air District adopted the South Coast Air Basin Attainment Plan for 2006 24‑Hour PM2.5 Standard (Plan) to meet the Clean Air Act requirements. CARB was scheduled to consider adopting the Plan on December 10, 2020 for submittal into the California SIP. However, this item has been moved to the February 25, 2021 CARB meeting.
