Remington Arms Company Case Settles for $40,000
On May 24, 2010, a case was settled with Remington Arms Company for mislabeling their Rem Oil gun lubricant product as a “multi-purpose lubricant.” The product was sold in large retail outlets as a multi-purpose lubricant, but did not meet the standard for that product category of 50 percent by weight volatile organic compound limit effective January 1, 2003, Title 17, of the Consumer Products Regulation. Remington Arms Company re-labeled their Rem Oil gun lubricant product to reflect its restricted use for firearms and made a payment of $40,000 to settle the case.
