Quality 1st Produce Inc./Young Trucking LLC/Forever Young Transport LLC Case Settles for $100,000
Quality 1st Produce Inc./Young Trucking LLC/Forever Young Transport LLC will pay $100,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $75,000.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $25,000.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in July 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed thatQuality 1st Produce Inc./Young Trucking LLC/Forever Young Transport LLC failed properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards and failed to bring their diesel trucks and Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable requirements. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) and the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation. To settle the case, Quality 1st Produce Inc./Young Trucking LLC/Forever Young Transport LLC agreed to the $100,000.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TRU ATCM, TB regulation and other ARB programs.
