Polycell International Corporation Case Settles for $38,250
Polycell International Corporation will pay $38,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $28,688.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; and $9,562.00 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in November, 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Polycell International Corporation failed to bring 3 of their heavy-duty diesel vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Polycell International Corporation agreed to the $38,250.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
