Petruj Chemical Corporation Settles For $6,300
Petruj Chemical Corporation (Hialeah Gardens, Florida) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant General Purpose Cleaner in California. Enforcement staff purchased a sample of Formula 88 Cleaner & Degreaser that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 0.5 percent limit for the General Purpose Cleaner: Non-aerosol category specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The product also contained a prohibited alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactant. The violation resulted in 0.39 tons of excess VOC emissions and 0.48 tons of alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactant emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by Petruj Chemical. Petruj Chemical immediately began reformulation efforts to come into compliance.
