Temporary exemptions to the statewide Residential Waste Burning Air Toxics Control Measure have been granted to some unincorporated areas with very low population densities that have limited options for disposal of waste. Information on temporary exemptions that may be available in each local air district is listed below.
Amador County Air Pollution Control District
Burning residential waste (paper, cardboard, and household waste) outdoors is NOT allowed anywhere in Amador County. Burn barrels are prohibited.

Eastern Kern County Air Pollution Control District
Open-burning hazard reduction pile burning of dry, natural vegetation is allowed within Eastern Kern County during Open Burn season. A District burn permit must be obtained and the date of ignition must be designated an open burn day. Burn barrels are prohibited in all areas of Eastern Kern County.
