Please see below for upcoming public events for the week of December 2, 2024.
Research Webinar — Increasing Access to Zero-Emission Vehicles: On December 3 via remote access, CARB will host a research webinar on increasing zero-emission-vehicle (ZEV) access to overburdened communities. During this meeting, researchers from University of California, Davis, will present information on the transportation needs and barriers to ZEV access. Residents in overburdened communities experience poorer air quality and have fewer transportation options. This session will explore the research findings and potential pathways to expanding access to clean transportation. The research team will provide feedback taken from community listening sessions, a statewide survey that explored barriers to ZEV access, and potential policy solutions to support the increase in ZEV access. Researchers will also discuss how education, incentives, infrastructure, vehicle supply, as well as battery warranties and durability requirements can expand ZEV access for overburdened communities and make clean transportation accessible to all Californians.
Community Input Session on California’s Clean-Car Future: On December 4 in Stockton, CARB will host a community input session to solicit public feedback that will inform regulations to reduce air pollution from gasoline-powered vehicles and enhance the process of purchasing and driving zero-emission vehicles. This session will be a part of a series of meetings hosted by CARB, in partnership with local community-based organizations, to provide the public with an opportunity to help shape California’s clean-car future. CARB staff will seek input on topics, such as more stringent greenhouse-gas standards and local transportation issues. About 50% of the State’s greenhouse-gas emissions are produced by transportation and the fuels they use.
Clean Truck Check-Vehicle Inspection System Testing Updates: On December 4 via remote access, CARB will host a webinar to cover the most recent updates to the Clean Truck Check-Vehicle Inspection System (CTC-VIS), which were made public in October 2024. The CTC-VIS program is one of CARB’s approaches to protecting the public from the harmful health effects of air pollution by realizing substantial emissions reductions from the heavy-duty vehicle sector and reducing the risk of harmful criteria-pollutant exposure to all California residents. The program combines periodic vehicle testing requirements with other emissions-monitoring techniques and expanded enforcement strategies to identify vehicles in need of emissions-related repairs and ensuring they are remedied. Webinar and training-module videos with reporting information are posted on the Clean Truck Check webpage. CARB staff recommends watching one or more of these recordings and visiting the CTC frequently-asked-questions page before registering for this webinar.
Public Workgroup on Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot Program: On December 5 via remote access, CARB will host a public workgroup meeting to provide an update on and discuss proposed changes to the Clean Mobility Options Voucher Pilot Program (CMO). CMO provides funding for community-driven mobility projects that increase residents’ access to key destinations by providing various clean-transportation choices. Eligible applicants may apply for and receive funding for electric-car sharing, carpooling, bicycle sharing, scooter sharing, vanpools, innovative transit services, fixed-route transit, and other clean-mobility options. CARB staff and the CMO Program Administrator team will present an overview of key project updates and propose program changes to better support current mobility project voucher awardees. This meeting will be an opportunity for stakeholders to provide their feedback on program improvements. CARB staff will be available to answer questions and listen to public feedback.
Kickoff Workshop and Informative Session on Ocean-Going Vessel In-Transit Regulation and Updated Emissions Inventory: On December 5 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop focused on ocean-going vessels (OGV). This workshop aims to raise awareness of the air-quality impacts of OGVs operating in and around regulated California waters, while also focusing on shaping the future OGV In-Transit Regulation. The meeting will also be an opportunity to encourage public engagement and feedback on the updates to the OGV emissions inventory. Meeting materials, presentations, and a meeting recording will be posted on thePotential OGV In-Transit Regulation webpage. California's ports and coastal communities face ongoing air-quality challenges due to emissions from OGVs. Despite existing regulations designed to reduce emissions, OGVs are projected to be one of the largest contributors to mobile-source emissions in California by 2037. Reducing pollutants from OGVs is critical to improving public health, meeting federal air-quality standards, and achieving California’s climate-change goals, especially for communities near ports.
The 2023 Consumer and Commercial Products Survey: On December 5 via remote access, CARB will host a webinar to provide guidance on the reporting tool for the 2023 Consumer and Commercial Products Survey (2023 Survey). This will be the second webinar CARB has hosted on the 2023 Survey. The survey is scheduled to launch on December 3. At the webinar, CARB staff will discuss how to use the Consumer Products Reporting Tool (CPRT) and how to submit data to CARB. CPRT and the reporting process include updates for efficiency, ease of reporting, and confidentiality. The updated tool contains “guard rails” to help guide responsible parties through the reporting process. More information can be found on the Consumer and Commercial Products Survey webpage.
