Lanz Cabinet Shop, Inc. Settles For $9,000
In July 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Lanz Cabinet Shop, Inc. (Lanz), located in Eugene, Oregon, for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products (Composite Wood Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 93120 et seq.
Lanz violated the Composite Wood Regulation requirement by not putting a statement of compliance on its customer invoices or customer bills of lading. Lanz also violated the Composite Wood Regulation by offering for sale composite wood products without having compliant label on its product.
To come into compliance, Lanz now has a statement of compliance on its customer invoices and ensures its products are labeled with a compliant label. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB's Air Pollution Control Fund for the purpose of carrying out CARB's duties and functions to ensure the integrity of its air pollution control programs.
