Sportsman’s Warehouse Southwest, Inc. dba Sportsman’s Warehouse Settles For $15,575
In October 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Sportsman’s Warehouse Southwest, Inc. dba Sportsman’s Warehouse (Sportsman’s), with its principal location in West Jordan, Utah, in the amount of $15,575 for violating CARB’s Evaporative Emission Requirement for Off-Road Equipment (SORE Evaporative Emissions Regulation) as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2750-2774.
A CARB investigation revealed that Sportsman’s violated the SORE Regulation by selling or offering for sale small off-road engines or equipment in California without an evaporative emissions control system that has been certified.
Of the total settlement amount, $7,787.50 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. The remaining amount of $7,787.50 will fund the Supplemental Environment Project entitled Marine Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) Incentive Program Phase 3, which provides incentives for ocean-going cargo vessels to slow down in the VSR zones during peak whale and ozone seasons.
