2022 Progress Report: California’s Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act
The report assesses progress meeting the goals of the Sustainable Communities and Climate Protection Act, enacted by SB 375 (Steinberg, Chapter 728, Statutes of 2008). The report includes the progress of each metropolitan planning organization (MPO) in meeting regional greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets set by the California Air Resources Board. The report includes information about changes to SB 375-related GHG emissions in each region, other data-supported metrics (also available in an online data dashboard), and a discussion of best practices and challenges faced by MPOs in meeting the targets, including the effects of State policies and funding. The report was developed in consultation with MPOs and affected stakeholders and builds on the first progress report submitted by CARB in 2018.
