Belgrade Parts & Service, Inc. Settles For $3,000

In March 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Belgrade Parts & Service, Inc. (Belgrade), with its principal location in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.

CARB staff conducted an investigation that revealed Belgrade sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured for use in California, a brake cleaner containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that exceeded the standard specified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94509(a). To settle the case, Belgrade agreed to a penalty of $3,000 for one day of violation.

The full penalty will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Belgrade fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and has ceased sales of the brake cleaner in California.
