MEDIA ADVISORY: Air Resources Board ‘strike force’ to crack down on polluting trucks at LA Port

LOS ANGELES - The Air Resources Board is working with the CA Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Port Police to conduct inspections on heavy duty trucks traveling in and around the Port of Los Angeles. The effort is a follow-up to ARB’s successful “Gear Up For Clean Trucks” campaign in August, which saw 4000 inspections on vehicles at 40 locations throughout the state.
Measures aimed at cleaning up diesel vehicles include requirements to report fleet information to ARB, employ fuel-saving technology, install diesel soot filters and replace or upgrade aging engines and transport refrigeration units.

WHEN: Wednesday, October 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon (ongoing inspections)
WHERE: At New Dock Street and Pier S Avenue in San Pedro. (Reporters are advised to exit the 710 South at Willow, turn right on Willow, turn left on to Highway 103 – the Terminal Island Freeway – then exit at New Dock Street, turn right and follow to Pier S Avenue. Look for CHP and Truck Inspections signage.)
