Nature's Produce Case Settles for $8,250
In October 2011, Nature’s Produce agreed to pay $8,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $6,187.50 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,062.50 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Nature’s Produce failed to bring their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) in compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. To settle the case, Nature’s Produce agreed to the $8,250.00 penalty and to comply with TRU and other ARB programs.
