M&S Trucking, Inc. Case Settles for $10,450
M&S Trucking, Inc. will pay $10,450.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,838.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,612.00 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to fund the School Bus and Diesel Emission Reduction Supplemental Environmental Project. This settlement was reached in October, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that M&S Trucking, Inc. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP); and (2) failed to meet PM BACT requirements for all 1996 through 1999 engine model years, all 2000 through 2004 engine model years, and all 2005 through 2006 engine model years as required by the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and TB. To settle the case, M&S Trucking, Inc. agreed to the $10,450.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB and other ARB programs.
