Method Products, PBC Settles For $79,000
In March 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Method Products, PBC of San Francisco, California, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $79,000. Method Products, PBC sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured a general purpose cleaner (nonaerosol) product for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations (17 CCR), section 94509(a). The VOC violation resulted in 4.55 tons of excess VOC emissions. Additionally, the product displayed a code that represents the date of manufacture; however, an explanation of the code was not filed with CARB as required in 17 CCR section 94512(b). To come into compliance, Method Products, PBC is modifying the product to meet the requirement of a Glass Cleaner category.
