Mediterranean Shipping Corporation Case Settles for $750

Mediterranean Shipping Corporation will pay $750 in penalties to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, for violating air quality regulations.  This settlement was reached on October 21, 2010.  An investigation by the ARB showed that the Mediterranean Shipping Corporation vessel, MSC Heidi, failed to properly complete switchover for its engines from Heavy Fuel Oil over to Low-Sulfur Distillate Fuel outside of Regulated California Waters.  To settle the case, Mediterranean Shipping Corporation agreed to the $750 penalty and to comply with ARB regulations.
