$2,000 in Fines Paid by JM Products Inc.
On November 27, 2006, a case was settled with J.M. Products Inc. for selling pounds of Iso Plus Spritz Super Hold into California that did not comply with the 55 percent by weight volatile organic compound (VOC) limit for hairspray. The initial samples were purchased on March 29, 2005 from a beauty products store in Barstow, California. Due to a batching error the amount of water added to the batch verses alcohol rendered the product non-compliant. The company paid $2,000 to settle the case in lieu of litigation.
