J. Perez Mata Incorporated Case Settles for $2,500
J. Perez Mata, Inc. will pay $2,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,875.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $625.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in October, 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that J. Perez Mata, Inc. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP); and (2) failed to report all vehicles with engines subject to the small fleet option as required by the Truck and Bus (TB) regulation. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and TB. To settle the case, J. Perez Mata, Inc. agreed to the $2,500.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB and other ARB programs.
