Griffin Brands Case Settles for $2,250
Griffin Brands (Crystal Lake, Illinois) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale 2 non-compliant footwear or leather care products in California. Enforcement staff purchased samples of Griffin Shoe Polish and Griffin Leather Creme; both of which contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 55 and 15 limits for the Footwear or Leather Care Product: Solid and Footwear or Leather Care Product: All Other Forms categories respectively, as specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The violations resulted in 161 pounds of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by Griffin Brands. Griffin Brands immediately reformulated both product lines to be compliant.
