Gene Belk Fruit Packers Case Settles for $1,500.00
In June 2013, Gene Belk Fruit Packers paid $1,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $1,125.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $375.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Gene Belk Fruit Packers failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program. To settle the case, Gene Belk Fruit Packers agreed to the $1,500.00 penalty and to have their fleet comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program.
