Doaba Trucking Case Settles for $5,350
In April 2014, Doaba Enterprises Inc., based in San Jose, agreed to pay $5,350 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,250.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $750.00 will go to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program; and $2,350.00 will go to Bay Area Air Quality Management District for recapturing of Prop 1B and Moyer voucher funds.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Doaba Enterprises Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Doaba Enterprises Inc. agreed to the $5,350 penalty and to comply with the PSIP program in addition to other ARB programs.
