CVS Pharmacy, Inc. Settles For $13,000

In January 2021, the California Air Resources Board and CVS Pharmacy, Inc. of Woonsocket, Rhode Island reached a settlement agreement in the amount $13,000.  CVS Pharmacy, Inc. sold, supplied, and offered for sale Beauty 360 Extra Firm Hairspray.  Beauty 360 Extra Firm Hairspray is a private labeled “Hair Finishing Spray” product that was manufactured by Apollo Health and Beauty Care Inc. for use in California.  The Beauty 360 Extra Firm Hairspray products contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations section 94509(a).  The violation resulted in approximately 0.76 tons of excess VOC emissions.  To come into compliance, CVS Pharmacy, Inc. ceased sales of the “Hair Finishing Spray” products.
