Curtis National LLC. Case Settles for $14,700
Curtis National LLC. will pay $14,700.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $11,025.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $3,675.00 will go to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to fund retrofits and replacements for school buses. This settlement was reached in August, 2016.
An investigation was conducted by the Air Resources Board (ARB) after the fleet name was supplied by the initial SMART audits program. The investigation determined that Curtis National LLC., failed to perform annual opacity tests for sixteen (16) vehicles for the years 2014 and 2015 and failed to bring two of their heavy-duty diesel trucks into compliance with the diesel particulate matter best available control technology. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and Truck and Bus Program. To settle the case, Curtis National LLC., agreed to the $14,700.00 penalty and to comply with ARB diesel engine regulations.
