CMC Worldwide, Inc. Settles For $13,500
In September 2021, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement agreement with CMC Worldwide, Inc. (CMC), of Pomona, California, in the amount of $13,500 for violating CARB’s air quality regulations. The $13,500 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
An investigation by CARB staff revealed that CMC sold, supplied, and offered for sale in California, products that contained hardwood plywood bed slats. CMC did not put a statement of compliance on its customer invoices or bills of lading when selling composite wood products. This is a requirement set forth in the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products (Cal. Code Regs., tit.17, § 93120-93120.12.).
To come into compliance, CMC has updated its customer invoices to include a statement of compliance. CMC cooperated fully with CARB to resolve this matter.
