City-Wide Fibers, Inc. Case Settles for $8,250
City-Wide Fibers, Inc. will pay $8,250 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $6,187 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2,063 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in April, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that City-Wide Fibers, Inc. failed to bring three of their solid waste collection vehicles into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle Program (SWCVP). To settle the case, City-Fibers, Inc. agreed to the $8,250 penalty and to comply with PSIP, SWCVP, and other ARB programs.
