The City of Pomona Case Settles for $5,250.00
In April 2013, The City of Pomona paid $5,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,937.50 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,312.50 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California Community Colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program.
An investigation by the ARB showed that the City of Pomona failed to properly self-inspect their diesel vehicles to assure that vehicles met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, the City of Pomona agreed to the $5,250.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP in addition to other ARB programs.
