California High Reach Case Settles for $10,300
In March 2014, California High Reach agreed to pay $10,300.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $7,725.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $2575.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that California High Reach failed to bring one of their heavy-duty diesel vehicles in compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Statewide Truck and Bus (SWTB) regulation. To settle the case, California High Reach agreed to the $10,300.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and SWTB regulation.
