California Freight Sales and Sandair, Inc., DBA California Freight Sales, Settles For $43,500
In November 2020, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) settled a case with California Freight Sales and Sandair, Inc, dba California Freight Sales (California Freight), located in Ripon, California. CARB’s audit documented 87 violations of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) by California Freight for failure to test, measure, record, and maintain records of smoke emissions for heavy-duty diesel vehicles for the years 2018 and 2019.
California Freight entered into a settlement agreement with CARB and agreed to pay 87 PSIP violations of $500.00 each for a total penalty amount of $43,500.00. California Freight was cooperative with submitting documentation during the course of the audit and provided records of PSIP tests conducted on their fleet for 2020. California Freight agreed to have staff enroll in the California Council on Diesel Education Technology’s (CCDET) CCDET I Smoke Test Training course, or the CARB Online Smoke Test Training course. California Freight also agreed to provide records of PSIP tests for their fleet in 2021 and to continue PSIP testing and recordkeeping annually thereafter. The fleet is now in compliance with the PSIP regulation.
