Bay Area Asphalt and Concrete Case Settles for $8,500
In September 2009, Bay Area Asphalt and Concrete agreed to pay $8,500 in penalties; $6,375 to the California Air Pollution Fund, $1,062.50 to the Peralta Community College District, and $1,062.50 to the California Pollution Control Financing Authority for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the ARB showed that Bay Area Asphalt and Cement Works failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Bay Area Asphalt and Cement Works agreed to the $8,500 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
