Azusa Light & Water Case Settles for $3,000.00
In July 2012, Azusa Light & Water agreed to pay $3,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,250.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $750.00 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Azusa Light& Water failed to install verified devices known as Best Available Control Technology on their vehicles based on an implementation schedule to reduce diesel smoke from these vehicles. ARB documented violations as they related to the Public Agencies and Utilities regulation. To settle the case, Azusa Light & Water agreed to the $3,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PAU regulation and other ARB programs.
