$7,000 in Fines Paid by AutoZone

Staff discovered that from January 2003 to December 2006 AutoZone West, Inc. sold in California, 1, 2, and 5-gallon Blitz Brand Portable Fuel Containers (model nos. 50805, 50810, and 50833) which, at the time of sale, did not meet all of the Performance Standards for Spill-Proof Systems. Due to internal errors for product distribution, the non-compliant containers were offered for sale at some California AutoZone stores. The problem has since been rectified. On March 5, 2008, AutoZone West, Inc. agreed to settle this case for $7,000.
