Apollo South West, Inc. Case Settles for $27,625
Apollo South West, Inc. will pay $27,625 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $20,725 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $6,900 will go to the School Bus Retrofit Project to retrofit school buses throughout California with diesel emission control strategies. This settlement was reached in July of 2015.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Apollo South West, Inc. failed to bring six of their trucks into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to ensure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus (T & B) Regulation. To settle the case, Apollo South West, Inc. agreed to the $27,625 penalty and to comply with PSIP, T& B, and other ARB programs.
