Ancon Marine Case Settles for $52,500
The facilities of Ancon Marine at the Port of San Diego and the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach were inspected in July, 2012, for compliance with the Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) regulation. The inspections indicated that there were several pieces of equipment out of compliance. In January and February, 2013, a Notice of Violation was issued to each Ancon Marine facility for violations to Title 13 CCR § 2479. Since the NOVs were received, Ancon Marine retrofit, retired, and/or replaced all the CHE in violation and is now fully compliant with the CHE regulation.
The case was settled on January 13, 2015, after the Settlement Agreement was fully executed and the penalty payment was received. The case settled for a total of $52,500. A portion of the penalty, $13,125.00, was paid to the San Joaquin Valley Air Quality Management District School Bus Diesel Particulate Filter Retrofit Supplemental Environmental Project.
