Empire Candle Company, LLC Settles for $6,000.00

In February 2020, the California Air Resources Board and Empire Candle Company, LLC (Empire) of Kansas City, Kansas, reached a settlement agreement in the amount of $6,000.  Empire sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured a liquid air freshener for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations (17 CCR), section 94509(a).  The violation resulted in 0.03 tons of excess VOC emissions.  Additionally, the product did not have a date of manufacture, as required in 17 CCR section 94512(b).  To come into compliance, Empire no longer sells this product.
