Eastgate Trans, Inc. Case Settles for $6,925
Eastgate Trans Inc. will pay $6,925.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $5,194.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,731.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. This settlement was reached in January 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Eastgate Trans Inc. failed to report all required diesel engines, disclose regulation applicability in trucks sales invoices, clear an outstanding citation and also failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Eastgate Trans Inc. agreed to the $6,925.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TB, and other ARB programs.
