Eastern Pacific Shipping (UK) Ltd. Settles Ocean Going Vessel Fuels Violation For $7,000
In April 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Eastern Pacific Shipping (UK) Ltd. (EPS), with its principal location in London, in the amount of $7,000, for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation revealing that the EPS vessel Lake Geneva failed to operate on compliant fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters in 2022. CARB alleged one day of violation for a penalty of $7,000 per day. EPS took prompt action after being notified of the violation and, under CARB’s supervision, began operating in compliance.
To settle the case, EPS agreed to the $7,000 penalty for the violations and to comply with CARB regulations. The $7,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
