DeForge Maritime Towing LLC Settles For $59,524
In June 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with DeForge Maritime Towing LLC (DMT), with its principal location in Seattle, Washington, for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for Commercial Harborcraft (CHC Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 93118.5.
An investigation conducted by CARB Enforcement Division staff found that DMT failed to install non-resettable hour meters, maintain and provide required records, and comply with the new and in-use emission standards for its vessels as required by the CHC Regulation. To settle the case, DMT agreed to a total settlement amount of $59,524.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for DMT to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. DMT worked cooperatively with CARB staff to quickly resolve this matter and implemented additional measures to reduce the potential of any future violations. The total settlement amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California’s air quality.
