DBI Beverage Inc. Case Settles for $116,400
In May 2014, DBI Beverage Inc. paid $116,400.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $87,300.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $29,100.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that DBI Beverage Inc. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect its diesel trucks for years 2011 and 2012 to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, (2) properly affix emission control labels (ECL) on the engines of their fleet vehicles, and (3) report all required information for all vehicles in the fleet for which they have elected to utilize the Phase-In option of the Truck and Bus Regulation (STB). ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), the ECL Regulation, and STB. To settle the case, DBI Beverage Inc. agreed to the $116,400.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, the ECL Regulation, STB and other ARB programs.
