CP Star, LLC Settles For $47,363
In September 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with CP Star, LLC (CP Star), with its principal location in Las Vegas, Nevada for the company’s violation of the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenence Program (HD/IM Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2195 to 2199.1.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that CP Star was operating a vehicle which had been tampered by removal of the Diesel Particulate Filter, thereby violating the in-use requirements of the HD/IM Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 2195.1). The terms of the settlement include a suspended penalty of $47,363 for any future violations of the settlement or California law, a requirement for CP Star to send all fleet vehicles the company intends to operate in California to a referee, and to keep the tampered vehicle out of California.
Through counsel, CP Star fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
