$2,000 in Fines Paid by Core-Mark International, Inc.
Core-Mark International, Inc. paid $2,000 in penalties for violating air quality regulation; $1,500 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, $250 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council of Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges, and $250 to the California Pollution Control Financing Authority to guarantee loans to off-road vehicle fleets that need to purchase exhaust retrofits to comply with the in-use off-road diesel vehicle regulation. This settlement was reached in February 2009.An ARB investigation showed that Core-Mark International, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel fleet in order to ensure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented these violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle this case Core-Mark International, Inc. of San Francisco, agreed to pay the $2,000 penalty and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and other ARB regulations.
