Conopco, Inc. Case Settles for $7,500.00

On December 20, 2013 a case was settled with Unilever for a violation of the California Consumer Products regulations involving TreSemme Root Boosting Spray. The product had been manufactured by Alberto Culver, which was purchased by Unilever. The Root Boosting Spray exceeded the 6 percent volatile organic compound limit for aerosol and pump hair styling products in title 17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509(a). The case was a repeat violation of the regulations for both companies and resulted in 0.19 tons of excess emissions. Unilever agreed to pay $7,500.
