Clift Industries, Inc. Case Settles for $3,000

Clift Industries (Indian Trail, North Carolina) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant General Purpose Degreaser in California. Enforcement staff purchased a sample of Oil Vanish Oil Stain Remover that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 10 percent limit for the General Purpose Degreaser: Aerosol category specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 209 pounds of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by Clift Industries. Clift Industries corrected the formulation prior to California Air Resources Board contact.
