Chris Rivas V-Twin Specialties, LLC Settles For $13,500
In March of 2021, Chris Rivas V-Twin Specialties, LLC (Chris Rivas V-Twin), located in Fresno, California, settled with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for emissions violations related to the sale of non-exempted add-on or modified motorcycle parts in California; and tampering with emission control devices and/or systems on emission controlled vehicles. CARB determined that Chris Rivas V-Twin advertised, sold, offered for sale, and installed add-on or modified motorcycle parts without legal exemptions to California’s anti-tampering laws. Such parts replace or modify critical original equipment manufacturer (OEM) emission control system components and OEM specified engine-operating conditions, and thus must be evaluated by CARB to demonstrate the vehicle’s continued emissions compliance. This conduct was in violation of California Vehicle Code section 27156 and California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2220 et seq.
The resulting settlement requires the company to pay a penalty of $13,500. Chris Rivas V-Twin has agreed to not install, sell, offer for sale, or advertise in California any aftermarket part in violation of Vehicle Code section 27156 and California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2220 et seq.
