Chardonnay Sailing Charters, LLC Case Settlement
Chardonnay Sailing Charters, LLC Case Settles for $5,500
A routine inspection was conducted on one vessel owned and operated by Chardonnay Sailing Charters, LLC out of Santa Cruz, CA. This single-engine excursion vessel was granted approval for operating under the low-use compliance option of the Commercial Harbor Craft Regulation in December 2018. The inspection discovered the vessel had operated its main engine over the 300 hour limit allowed under the low-use option, thus violating California Code of Regulations Title 17, Section 93118.5(e)(6). One violation was found and a calculated penalty of $5,500 for one engine for one year was agreed upon by both parties. A settlement agreement detailing the violation and terms of resolution was signed and fully executed in May 2019.
