Charcy Company Inc. Case Settles for $2,250
In December 2014, Charcy Company Inc. (Charcy) agreed to pay $2,250.00 for violating air quality regulations: $844.00 goes to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $281.00 goes to Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program; and the return of Moyer funds of $1,125.00 goes to the South Coast Air Quality Management District for non-compliance with ARB regulations, as required by the Carl Moyer contract.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Charcy failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP. To settle the case, Charcy agreed to the $1,125.00 penalty, the $1,125.00 return of Moyer funds, and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs. Charcy does not have a history of past violations.
