Champion Brands Settlement
Champion Brands Case Settles for $50,755
Between October 2006 and April 2010, Champion Brands supplied in California their Champion Chain Lube Multi-Purpose Spray Grease and Champion Chain Lube Spray Grease products that contained VOCs in excess of the 50% limit for Multi-Purpose Lubricants. Both products were mislabeled and were not intended to be sold in California. The violations resulted in 3.54 tons of excess emissions from the sale of the products. Both products have since been reformulated to meet the VOC limit of the product category. The Settlement Agreement was signed on June 22, 2012 and the company will make four payments of $12,688.75 totaling $50,755.
