CARB has verified the Engine Control Systems Limited (doing business as CDTi; hereafter referred to as CDTi) Purifilter^TM EGR system for select 2002 through 2010 model year heavy-duty on-road diesel engines used in on-road applications. The Purifilter^TM EGR system reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The primary components of the Purifilter^TM EGR include a catalyzed silicon carbide diesel particulate filter for passive regeneration, and a backpressure monitoring and notification system. The Purifilter^TM EGR system is compatible with on-road vehicles using diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific engine families and conditions for which the Purifilter^TM EGR system has been approved may be found in the Executive Order below.
