Camacho Brokers, Inc. Case Settles for $37,104
Camacho Brokers, Inc. will pay $37,104.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $27,828.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $9,276.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program. This settlement was reached in September 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Camacho Brokers, Inc. failed to bring nine of their diesel trucks and eight of their Transport Refrigeration Units (TRU) into compliance with the applicable in-use performance standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, Camacho Brokers, Inc. agreed to the $37,104.00 penalty and to comply with TRU, TB, and other ARB programs.
